Application Guide

Bus Body system:

Recommended application procedure of two coat painting system for bus body 

  • Substrate: Aluminum sheet, Galvanized, M.S. Sheet
  • Sand the substrate by 180 # Emery Paper manually or with the help of pneumatic machine to remove rust, dirt etc. Time required for sanding is around 40-45 minutes. Then wipe with the thinner to remove traces of Oil, Grease and sanding rust. It will take around 20-25 minutes
  • Then apply Putty to fill up dents (mixing ratio: 100: 2–3 gm by wt.) and allow to dry for 45 – 50 minutes before dry sanding with emery paper no 80 followed by 120 # , 180# and 320.Wipe off surface with Thinner & dry off with muslin cloth.
  • Apply Primer Surfacer for Bus Body.
    • Mixing ratio Base : Hardener :: 5 : 1 by volume
    • DFT- 60 – 70 micron,
    • Thinner intake- 25-30 % with thinner
  • Allow drying for Over Night or can be Stoved at 80 degree C.
  • Apply Putty to fill up minor dents (mixing ratio: 100: 2–3 gm by wt.).Leave it for one hour for drying. Wet sand with 320 # Emery Paper and wipe off surface with Thinner & dry off with muslin cloth.
  • Apply primer Surfacer over putty applied areas. Allow it to dry for 3-4 Hrs at room temperature. Then wet sand with 320 # emery paper. Leave it for 15 minutes for Drying & followed by air blow.
  • Apply Top Coat PU
    • (Mixing Ratio : as recommended by supplier )
    • Thinner intake 30 – 50 % by Volume and
    • DFT- 50 ± 5 micron ( 2 Coats )
  • Allow it to dry for 72 Hrs before testing.

  • Apply primer
    • Mixing ratio Base: Hardener :: 1:1 by volume
    • DFT / coat 7-10 microns.
  • Apply Primer Surfacer Grey – Matt
    • Mixing ratio Base : Hardener :: 8 : 1 by volume
    • DFT- 45-50 micron,
    • Thinner intake- 30-40 % by volume.
  • Allow drying for Over Night or can be Stoved at 80 Degree C for 30 Minutes, after 10-15 minutes flash off.
  • Apply Putty to fill up minor dents (mixing ratio: 100: 2–3 gm by wt.) and leave it for one hour for drying. Wet sand with 320# Emery Paper. Wipe off surface with Thinner & dry off with muslin cloth.
  • Apply Primer Surfacer Grey Matt over putty applied areas allow it to dry for 2-3 Hrs.Wet sand  with  400 # emery paper and then leave it for 15 min  for drying.
  • Apply PU Top coat shades
    • Mixing Ratio : as recommended by supplier
    • Thinner intake 30 – 50 % by Volume and
    • DFT- 50 ± 5 micron ( 2 Coats )
  • Allow to dry for 72 Hrs before testing.

Fan Coatings:

Recommended application procedure of three coat painting system for bus body

Fan consists of Al blades & Rotor (Body) made up of casting. Blades are painted with single Topcoats and Rotor body is painted with Primer & topcoat.

  • Substrate: Aluminum panel
  • Chromatising: This is the general process for Pre treatment of Aluminum. This bath contains mixture of chromic acid, phosphoric acids and additives. It gives limited corrosive resistance.
  • Stoving at 23-25 sec application viscosity by FCB4@30°c (dft 30-35µ).
  • Flash Off for 6-8mins.
  • Stoving @ 120°C/30mins.
  • Ageing for 24hrs at room temp.
  • Testing & Shade.

Gas Cylinders:

Recommended application procedure for Gas Cylinders

  • Substrate: M S Cylinders
  • Pretreatment
    • Caustic soda cleaning: Any visible oil/grease should be removed and surface should be dry and clean.
    • Furnacing up to 300°C
    • Shot blasting: Shot blasting consists of attacking the surface of a material with one of many types of shots. The device that throws the shot is either a large air gun or spinning paddles which hurl the shot off their blades.
    • Additional coat: Zinc Metallising by spray
  • Primer
    • Air Primer at 20-25µDFT and Flash off 30 minutes
    • Air Dry at 25-30µDFT and Air Drying for 16–18 hours or bake at 120°C/30 Min.

Helmet Coatings:

Recommended application procedure for Helmets

Helmets are made up of plastic substrates having high Impact resistance with very good flexibility.

Substrates:

  • Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene(ABS),
  • Poly Propylene Co Polymer
  • Fibre Reinforced Plastic(FRP)

Coatings: 2Comp. PU Low Bake type & Low bake stoving Type

Application method – ABS Plastics

  • Substrates: ABS Helmet
  • IPA Wiping
  • Apply Top coat at 20-25µDFT
  • Flash off 8-10 minutes and Bake at 60±5°C / 60±5 Min.
  • Ageing for 4 Hrs

Application method – FRP Plastics

  • Substrates: FRP Helmet
  • 2 K Acric Ez HB PS at 35-40µ DFT and Bake at 60°C for 40 minutes. Wet sand with #220 Emery Paper.
  • Apply Putty (97:3) and then Air dry for 40 minutes.
  • Apply second coat of Acric EZ HB PS 35-40µ and Flash off 6-8 minutes.
  • Stoving 60°C/40 Min
  • Apply Top coat at 20-25µDFT and bake at 60°C for 40 minutes.
  • Then Clear coat 25-35 µDFT and bake at 60°C for 30 Minutes.

Glass Coatings:

Recommended application procedure for glass coatings

  • Substrate: Glass
  • IPA Wiping
  • Conductive Coating For Glass at 15 sec & 15±2µ DFT
  • Flash Off for 8-10 Sec. and then Bake at 80°C/15 Minutes.
  • Test dry Film conductivity and then air Dry for 72 Hrs.

Audio Video Cabinet Coatings:

Recommended application procedure for Audio Video Cabinet Coatings

  • Substrate: HIPS- High Impact Poly Styrene.
  • IPA wiping
  • Acrylic Silver at 5-7µ
  • Flash Off for 3 Minutes.
  • Bake at 60°C for 10 minutes.
  • Screen printing
  • I/R baking
  • Dispatch / Assembly shop

Material Handling Equipment Coatings:

Recommended application procedure for Material Handling Equipments

  • Shot blasted Cast Iron Body and MS components
  • Apply Primer  and air dry for 30 minutes at 5-8 µ DFT
  • Apply Zinc phosphate primer @50-60µ DFT  Air dry for 18 hrs
  • Then apply Putty on localised area and NC Putty application on total area
  • Wet scuffing  dry and clean
  • Two comp PU primer at 35-40 µ
  • Flash off 10 minutes
  • Two comp PU Top coat at 35-40µ and Air dry

Agricultural Equipment Coatings:

Recommended application procedure for Agricultural Equipments

Application Method for Alkyd Based Coating

  • Substrate: MS Components
  • Zinc phosphating
  • Apply Grey Primer and then flash off for 10 minutes
  • Stoving at 120°C for 30 minutes
  • Stoving Enamel
  • Flash off for 10 minutes
  • Stoving at 120°C for 30 minutes

Application Method for Two Comp PU System

  • Substrate: MS Components
  • Zinc phosphating
  • Apply Two comp PU Primer seed at 30-35µ DFT
  • Flash off for 10 minutes
  • Then apply Two Comp PU Top Coat at 30-35µ DFT
  • Flash off 10 minutes
  • Forced drying 80°C for 30 minutes

Barrel Coatings:

Recommended application procedure for Barrels

  • Substrate: Mild Steel Barrel
  • 3 in 1 Pretreatment
  • Dry & clean
  • Barrel painting (DFT 25 -27µ)
  • Flash Off at 90 Sec.
  • Bake it and then cool it for 15-20 Minutes.
  • Stenciling
  • Store and dispatch.
